NHRA® Team Report
Texas NHRA FallNationals – Texas Motorplex
Pre-Race Report

Cruz Pedregon and team are coming off a quarter finals finish and a “good close race” to head to Texas, a state that’s been good for the two-time Funny Car World Champ in the past. Once again, the Snap-on Dodge will be decked out in pink to honor Cruz’s primary sponsor’s efforts to support the Pink Fund® in the U.S. and Kelly Shires Foundation in Canada and to further awareness of these organizations that are helping breast cancer patients meet non-medical expenses while undergoing treatment.
"We know after St. Louis that right off the trailer we can go a 3.89 at 331, our top speed of the year, which is a great indication of what we can do this weekend," says Cruz. "I’m a strong believer in our guys J.C. (John Collins) and Rip (Reynolds), and we have Lee Beard, a Hall of Fame crew chief, consulting during these last races of the year,” says Cruz. “Obviously, there’s three to go, and we’re going to add some twists to the plan to get the car to go a little quicker. We want to do better, and we’re ready for the all-concrete track in Dallas. I’m eager to put another Wally on the mantle from this race.”
Cruz will continue to run the pink design on El Mero Mero (The Big Boss) body that features the Snap-on Socket to Breast Cancer logo on the hood, three main colors pearl white, dark titanium, and pink, with the Pink Fund and Kelly Shires Foundation logos on the wing. For more information, check out PinkFund.org and KellyShiresFoundation.org.
On the side of Cruz’s car this week is the name of Jonathan Martinez, a friendly face you’ll see in a local Snap-on mobile store. He worked in a body shop before driving his Snap-on route for the past five years and says he loves how every day is different. Thursday was a good example of that when he had Cruz ride along with him on his Dallas-area route.
