...Very Sorry for T.W.and gang....What a year for wilkerson!!!:)

Not a fan but he played by the rules so congrats to Cruz.

HEY GLENDORA....how's it working for ya when there are so many fans not too happy about all this countdown crap???

Wilk, chin up!! You had an awesome year.

I'm in total agreement here. Has anybody done an "actual points as earned from racing" scenario? Not that I wanna argue, just curious to know what the non-countdown standings woulda been.

On the qualifying show last night they showed that Wilk was up by roughly 130 (going from fuzzy memory) basically by qualifying he would have clinched a DESERVING title.

No fault to Cruz, like last years champs he was able to use the rules to his advatange and used the points gift to make up the gap in the standings that he did not have made up on the track. My arguement is that the rules are beyond messed up. You have champions and then there are countdown champs......reminds me of the days when the nfl would go on strike and replacement players were used. Sure it was still football but everyone knew the difference and one group was held in higher esteem and their accomplishments accepted and more importantly respected.

Last year we saw big money teams like Hight and Anderson get abused by the system as well as up and commer Fuller. This year the hero to the masses gets hosed in Wilkerson. Finally a small budget teams proves that they can hang with the big boys and rightfully should be the champion, yet the system steals it away. Funny how some of you that supported this farce from the beginning claimed that it would help the little guy out. Looks like Wilk was just fine without your help....but at least you were entertained right:rolleyes: its sickening

Mark,

After Vegas, Wilk had the lead, Hight was in second. If Wilk made the field, which he did, that was the championship for him regardless of what happened on race day. The points are in another thread somewhere. I'm on my phone, so I can't copy and paste. But that should give you a good idea.

Cruz should be required to run a #1 with a four leaf clover next to it.
What a GIFT.
NHRA countdown needs a recall vote

Of course it's all about the points, but there's another dimension which I haven't seen mentioned.

Don't forget that Tim lost a bunch of oildown credits he was carrying when the points were manipulated. If I'm not mistaken, he lost points later in the year when he otherwise would not have been charged.

Sorry to Wilk, man thats gotta be tough to swallow, but congrats to Cruz.

The best part to me though, is NO JFR CARS WON the trophy!!!

I know that'll open up a few cans of shut the hell up!!!

Congrats to Cruz and the boys. That being said, I think I've had about enough of the NHRA as I can stand.... No more of my money will be supporting this nonsense. Wilk won the title as far as I'm concerned. Might as well just run one race per year and pick the champs that way.
