CRITCHLEY FIRES OPENING SALVO IN ROCKINGHAM PRO MODIFIED QUALIFYING

ROCKINGHAM, NC. - The last time Troy Critchley was at Rockingham Dragway he was making an effort to work on his short times during an eighth-mile drag race. Tonight he bridged together the short times and back-half to produce the quickest IHRA Torco's CompetitionPlus.com Pro Modified run during provisional qualifying for the Universal Technical Institute World Finals qualifying.

Critchley, who drives the AMS Staff Leasing 1957 Chevrolet, pushed his classic ride to a 6.061 elapsed time at 236.17 miles per hour during Friday's lone qualifying session. Two sessions remain on Saturday.

"I am really proud of how well this AMS car performed," Critchley said. "We had some tough times and some good times this season. This certainly qualifies as a good one. We're not naive. We know a lot can happen tomorrow."

Critchley's AMS Rage teammate Josh Hernandez is seventh in first day qualifying with a 6.109, 234.25.
