LAS VEGAS (Oct. 28, 20060 - Cory McClenathan produced his best time of 4.536 seconds at 329.10 mph in Saturday's first qualifying round and it held up for sixth starting spot in Sunday's ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
McClenathan races newcomer Steve Torrence (11th, 4.583 seconds) in the opening round.
"We made two good runs and Wes (Cerny crew chief) is working with some new parts he wanted to try, which he did on our last run and we ran 4.72," McClenathan said. "The tune-up was a little too aggressive but the parts showed promise.
"We want to stay in the top 10 so we need to go a few rounds Sunday."
