Rain washed out Saturday's second qualifying round for Sunday's Toyo Tires National at Maple Grove Raceway, but not before Dave Connolly secured the 12th Pro Stock starting position.
Connolly's quickest run was 6.651 seconds and was his career best. It left him 12th in the sport's quickest Pro Stock field. He races Tommy Lee (fifth, 6.634 at 207.62 mph) in the opening round.
"We only had one run Saturday due to rain, so we'll be ready to go Sunday," said Connolly. "It wasn't very nice at the track today. I hope it gets better for Sunday.
The quickest field in history went from Greg Stanfield's 6.621 seconds to Dave Northrop's 6.664 at 206.57 mph.
