Connie kalitta wins Indy 94

Love it! Mid 90's remind me of what it was like being a simple teenager watching the drags. And the 4.70 ET's... fuel cars thundering down the quarter for what seems like an eternity compared to today. And that's a good thing! The blowers sitting right on top of the supercharger without the long neck, makes the engines look short, bulky, like a bodybuilder compared to a skinny dude of today's motor.

You can talk about Force, Shoe and all the rest and what they've done for drag racing and thats all true but NOBODY has done anymore than Connie. Unlike most in the pro ranks he does it not as a business but because he loves it. What's most impressive about that is he's done it largely outta his back pocket and for the pure joy of it.

thats for sure!

A few things.. Great race! There are tons more just like it all over youtube. Secondly. Wouldn't you say that 1 hour with commercials was just as entertaining and told the race story as well as a current 3 hour show?

for connie to punch through with his first indy win (when indy still felt and was special) after 30+ years of trying
made this race one of the more memorable over the years.
a lot of races are remembered for e.t. and mph records, probably more so than actual winners so this race IMO
was very special for someone who has poured his life into the sport and sacrificed so much.

Wonderful memories. I giggled when Steve said, Connie is "coming out of retirement".....I imagine some people getting the impression that this old guy must of got bored building bird houses in his basement. As always, he was knee-deep in his aerospace companies at that time, and still had his hands in Scott's top fuel program. The words Connie Kalitta and retirement just don't sound right together.
