Starting line games shouldn't change much, my understanding is (and I'm not saying it's gospel) that there will be four walls of inferreds, first is prestage, turns on the top light (same as now) 8" forward there is the stage, turns on the bottom (same as now) 5" forward is the deep stage, top bulb out (same as now) 3" more is the clock start, bottom bulb out (same as now)

The only change would be the leading edge will trip everything, the body in PS and FC, the front wing in TF and TAD the wheel in PSM, and the bumper, or nose in sportsman classes.

Again this is my understanding I have not discussed all the details with anybody, but I have had a couple of conversations with those involved.

Just as I am not the spokesperson for NHRA I'm not for Compulink either, just sharing what I think I know.

Quick question....correct me if I am wrong. Right now the front wheel breaks the beam and when the wheel leaves the beam it registers reaction time. I believe the starting line beam is 3" and finish line is 5" so anything that breaks the finish line beam stops clock. So now if the body or nose is now going to break the infrared..won't it have to wait till the whole car is out of the beam to register a reaction time..essentially making your reaction time longer???? Or am I just not understanding it right??? Don't you need a wheel and rollout in order to have reaction time???

From what Alan posted it sounds like when the car breaks the 4th sensor the clock will start. As he said it is 5" from staged to deep staged, then another 3" from deep staged to clock starting. So the car will have to move 8" from when initially staged to start the timer.

Call me old fashioned but I like the ability for drivers to play games on starting line. I like that someone who is at a disadvantage can take the risk of going in deep to try and help their chances or that during mineshaft conditions they can go in super shallow to have a better shot at a National Record. Then again I am a fan of 1320ft and canopies on dragsters so what do I know?

We are old dude.... it's about the kids! ;)

Soap Box Derbys, Motocross, Pinewood Derby, even Hot Wheels use a gate, system... So why not make a steel plate the cars get up against, light up the slicks, and then drop the gate! First car to the catch net wins!

As for the the foam blocks, use an air line like a drive through window, or a D.O.T. cer counter in each lane. DING!
