Seems to me like starting the timer off the nose of the car will lead to slower elapsed times.
To quote Mr Brockmeyer
"It is new technology and I think it will be the starting technology of the future. It will make things a whole different ball game.”
I think it will be interesting to see how this works out. Like Alan said, it would eliminate a lot of the starting line "tricks" now in play, and level the field.
When you get down to it, what real difference would that make?
When they can figure out a way to eliminate the foam blocks , I will be happy
It also makes an exact quarter mile (or '1,000) racetrack for all competitors.
The way I read it the finish beam would still be triggered by the front wheels (at least for now), so a car with a shorter front-to-wheel length would have a shorter track.
Even now, the finish line beam is not tripped by the front wheels... it's the first part of the car to break the beam....

Call me old fashioned but I like the ability for drivers to play games on starting line. I like that someone who is at a disadvantage can take the risk of going in deep to try and help their chances or that during mineshaft conditions they can go in super shallow to have a better shot at a National Record. Then again I am a fan of 1320ft and canopies on dragsters so what do I know?
