For the first time in over two years, a Pro Comp event featuring blown alcohol dragsters and funny cars was contested at Renegade Raceway in Yakima, Washington on May 6. Chilly May weather made the event a driver's race as 12 blown alcohol cars made the call for the first round. The finals saw Chris Davis' front engine entry 4.54 beat out Matt Driscole's 4.66. Driscole was behind the wheel of a blown alcohol funny car.
Nitro funny car veteran Gary Ritter was the event's Grand Marshal. The Season Opener event was contested on the eighth mile and was the of many major events planned for this year.
