Thats interesting they have that much gen admin. The "general admin" at BIR is way down at half track, you can't even get close to the start. Looks like with GA at Chicago you can move to any end of the track, high or low.
I am curious about the stadium style wrap to the tower, Id imagine you would have a clear view full down track (no need to stand or lean).
Only weariness I have about GA is the fact that if it gets packed you might not get good seats. I have memories from Columbus getting a seat at the top row at the start in GA at 9am and not being able to move all day because your spot would be gone in a heartbeat
I recall that Chicago (on tv anyway) lots of empty space to move around in the stands - especially on a Fri or Sat. Does everyone agree with the above post (and my observations) that purchasing a GA seat the day we arrive is a good way to go?
Looking forward to this trip, me and by BIR buddy driving there from MN, watching a full day of racing !Pro Mod and a NIGHT session... something that we dont see at BIR!, and driving back all in 2 days.
EDIT - looks like no pro mod in Chicago - I thought they had it there for some reason
The side you see on tv is the south side reserved seating. The north side will fill up, but also usually empties after the pro runs. Nobody sits there in the same spot all day long, so there's no reason to get "dibs" on a seat at 9am. A good time to head back is just before PSM or during PSM/PS car qualifying. You'll get a good spot before everyone hurries back for the Nitro runs. Sitting in the horseshoe part gives you a great view down track and the burnout. If you sit down low you are right next to where they start the cars when they pull out from under the tower. I'll check to see if i have any pictures from those sections to give you an idea of the view. There honestly isn't a bad seat in the place depending on what view you like best.
One other thing I forgot is the Winston/Motel 6/AC Delco vision TV screen is on the North side of the track at an angle towards the south, so that sometimes is difficult to see from every seat, but that's about it.
