There was actually a thing about Cheerleaders on Real Sports on HBO a while back. There are more "tragic" accidents (defined as death, paralysis or permanent disability) in high school cheerleading than all other high school sports COMBINED, male or female. Yes that includes football.

The one where the guy throws the basketball the length of the court and pegs the unsuspecting cheerleader was pretty good.

A lot of the other ones had to be plenty painful.
