there was a superbike rider that hit a wild turkey at road america also, he got hit right in the top of the helmet and only suffered a concussion but it split his helmet right down the middle:eek: , luckily he did'nt go down either. guess they need taller fences there!!!

I'd never really paid attention to the fences surrounding the track at Road America until now. I just watched a ALMS or Grand Am race there recently (can't remember which one-I'll have to pull out the video tape) ... it was since da Matta's accident though, the fences seemed to be atleast 8 1/2' tall. Were those implemented because of the accident, or have they always been there?

Boy I dont know about the fence but they obviously are'nt high enough. I cant even imagine hitting one with an open wheel car let alone a bike going 150- 160. I clipped one with my car last fall, just a glacing blow and it did $6500 damage. Both these guys are lucky to be alive. was road america fun??? I've always wanted to go see it but the drag racing keeps me to busy!! hopefully next year.

My shop is at Willow Springs Raceway which is in the Mojave desert.

Rattlesnakes will get out on the track all the time. When the motorcycles run, they constantly make PA annoucements about the snakes. If you were to run over one while in a corner, it could cause a low side wreck.

Many years ago they had some ta/fc's running at night at alamo dragway in san antonio, two fc's did their burnouts then they shut them off after they noticed about 6 cows walking around in the shutdown area, so they had to get them off the track. As poor as the lighting was I was surprised they saw them at all.
