Burnout's Mr Consistent Is Ready To Rip In Sydney This Saturday!

Monday, 2 June 2008 - (Sydney, NSW) If you haven't seen Clint Ogilvie rip it up in a burnout session before, then Sydney fans are in for a rare treat this Saturday at Western Sydney Dragway from 6pm, with the Victorian confirmed for entry!

You simply cannot miss the distinctive Slammed Creations / Speedworks / Randall Motor Trimming / Longbeach Customs/Turtle Wax pink Holden Torana carve up on the WSID burnout cauldron.

"I cant wait to get to WSID, I am just looking forward to getting out there and smashing a set of tyres off the old girl it has been a fair spell between skids so I am itching to get out there. Its just a shame its only one skid," grinned Ogilvie in anticipation for the weekend!

It will be one heck of a skid though, as Ogilvie is proven before at Australia's biggest burnout events, including taking out an Easternats event.

Also at the last 'Summernats' event in Canberra - Ogilvie finished runner-up in the much-vaunted 'Masters' category.

But for Clint and Robyn Ogilvie, its always about having FUN!

"To tell you the truth I really don''t care that much about winning. Don't get me wrong when we go out there we aren''t mucking around. We are there to win but I just don't take it so seriously that it pisses me off if we don''t. We are there to have fun and KILL TYRES!"

For Ogilvie, the car has been a process of development and steady evolution into one of Australia's most potent burnout weapons.

"The car has been evolving since we first had it. We started with a standard-stroke 308ci, then went to a baby 333 'stroker' that served us faithfully for
many years.

I guess like most blokes though, I had always dreamed of a blown car so that's where we have ended up now.

The motor is a standard stroke 304 Holden motor, with twin 750 holleys and a 6/71 blower running about 8 pounds boost. We are also running a converted tunnel ram manifold, aluminium heads, flat top pistons with a bowl milled into them to get about 8.3 compression.

We also run a factory crank, with 2-bolt mains with a stud girdle and at the end of it all, this combo is good for about 430 reliable horsepower at the tyres.

Backing that we have a powerglide with a 4400 converter and sheetmetal 9-inch diff running 3.5 gears.

Its something that has been developed over the years to the point it is at now - a lot of homework and trials have made the car what it is today it was no overnight thing but with the right advice and right people she has become
a half decent car."

Its when you see the amount of effort and development taken by some of Australia's best burnout exponents like Clint Ogilvie - to these guys, tyre-frying and putting on a good show is serious business!

Around 50 of Sydney's best burnout kings will have at it THIS SATURDAY, with some of Australia's finest burnout exponents hard on it and hammer down throughout!

The action will crank from 6pm, and run through until 9pm.

Each competitor will be allowed three minutes on the burnout pad as the wage wheel-spinning warfare for $2000 first place prizemoney (and a trophy!). Second will receive $1000, third place $500.
