Budweiser has continued to sponsor cars in racing since they left drag racing. Most recently they are on the side of Kevin Harvick's car in NASCAR.

maybe NHRA should take a Gander at Yuengling ;)

WHY ?? It was Kenny Bernstein that went after Budweiser in the first place !!
He took his rig & racecar to the Budweiser Headquarters and made his case!!!
Has NHRA ever gone looking for a sponsor to find sponsorship for a racer ?? Or have they sat on the side lines and tried to get sponsor $$$$ for NHRA ?
NHRA is concerned with their own pocketbooks only !!

the new owners of Budweiser figured out they need the north american motorsports area for promotion more then they thought... sooo they are slowly stepping back into some motorsports arenas... for what it cost to sponsor a Indy car for a year.. most figure if the team makes the Indy 500 and does decent its worth the money.. kind of like the ones that buy ads during the Super Bowl.. they know enough people are watching to make it worth while..

Budweiser, Bud Light, and Lite by Miller seems to be the High $ beer for sale at most NHRA National races.

"After a hiatus of more than a dozen years, Budweiser is rumored to be back in the series as an associate sponsor for Graham Rahal's Service Central Chip Ganassi Racing entry at this year's Indianapolis 500."

Right now it's only an associate sponsorship at the INDY 500. It would be nice to have Miller and Bud back at both INDY and NHRA but since both are owned by foreign entities, I wouldn't expect it to happen any time soon.

Yeah.. kind of like their Cup deal (not a full season)... they want in but not willing to spend the cash.. so... kind of being in as an Associate is kind of being involved... hoping to profit from the "guilt by association" tag... just dont have to spend the same amount of cash HOPING to get more than its worth...lol

Kind of like Wrangler years ago with Dale Sr... new foreign company bought them decided that NASCAR and Dale were not the direction they wanted to take their newly bought company in and dropped them.. years later they realised how BIG of a mistake it was and tried to get hooked back with Sr... but he told them where to go...lol... after his death they approached Dale Jr and then it cost them more than a truck load of cash to just to be affiliated with him.. not just sponsor a car...lol

I believe the race car was painted with Budweiser on it to show them how the car would. No lack of confidence there.

You never know Joe. Many sponsors have come and gone, and come back again. Things go in cycles, and things are constantly changing. Now, more than ever, it's up to the NHRA and the racers to be able to show the benefits of being a marketing partner. Sponsorships have to really show a ROI, if they do, more deals will happen.

NHRA has had a policy that for a company to be an official sponsor they must also be a sponsor on a team. Budweiser, Bernstein, official beer. Harley, Hines, official motor scooter.

How is that only concerned with their own pocketbooks?

No, he may have had renderings, but it was definitely the Chelsea King car, which was one of the most gorgeous cars ever back in the day, with a matching semi, back when everyone else still used tow alongs.
