Bruce Litton Points Problem

I just finished his part in my book. Under 2011 NHRA has him documented that he finished 33rd with 31 points 0/1 on sunday with 3 DNQ's and 1 start and his career best speed is 310.70 at 1000ft. He really finished 32nd-62 points 0/2 on sunday, with 2 DNQ's and 2 starts and his career best is 315.71.

This is the worst opposing stat to mine that I have ever seen. How can I get NHRA to correct this, I mean this is the sports history books and it can't be left unaccurate.

With him running IHRA, which would put him over the 4 day test rule, some of his events would not have counted.

Probably a good place to start would be to contact the NHRA instead of the Mater; however, if my math is correct, you might want to recheck your points total for Bruce.

I believe he qualified in the #16 position in both Brainerd and Reading and he did not get any of the little points in each of the qualifying sessions. With a first round loss in each of those events and no oil down penalties that I can see, that gets him 31 points in each of those two races for a total of 62.

Keep in mind that he also tried to qualify at Indy and Charlotte. He did not make the show in the end, but he did have at least one qualifying attempt at each of these two events. Given this, he should have received 10 points at each of these races for a total of 20. Again, I did not see that he had any oil down penalties or earned any little points.

Therefore, without taking into account Paul’s post above, I see Bruce ending the season with 82 points and not 62 as you state. Now take into account what Paul said, which appears to impact the events that are counted from NHRA's perspective, and you might get back down to the 31 the NHRA states. It looks to me that they did not count Indy, Charlotte or Reading points.

And yes, I agree with the career best speed of 315.71.

That's weird but I guess 31 it is, thanks for the 20 I forgot should really be 82. Since the 4 day rule, but Paul you give me an even newer question, Why did Indy count at all? The IHRA season ended before indy and he ran about 14 days so his total should really be 0 then. I'm 1000% confused by this and Paul, Mike excellent help, but I am going to try and find an answer now. The NHRA should of at least issued a statement about Litton. I left his 2011 part open because I have no idea if nhra is right with 31, wrong and should be 82, or wrong and should be 0.

In 2010 and 2009, NHRA did not even let him enter the points, I am now thinking NHRA messed up and he should not even be a part of the 2011 points program. I am making my book on my terms so I don't have to match the NHRA anyway, so as I am still curious, I'm determined with what I am going to do.

Patrick, this is not meant as a knock on you and your book, but you may want to contact the NHRA and go over how they award point and count points. The problem you encountered with Litton is probably not an isolated incident. If I was writing the "history" book I would, for accuracy, start there. Good luck in your endeavour.

100% understand thank you I think I am figuring out that the NHRA was somehow Justified in giving him 31 points instead of 82 or 0. The 82 is what he earned unofficially, The NHRA has their reasons, but I am not going to discredit it so here comes the asterisk.

We (i am a crew guy on the team) didn't have any oil down penalties and qualified at 2/4 events. Made all shots of qualifing except at reading.
