When she was in the booth, she said they (John and the two girls) approached them over a year ago and were shown the door because Monster wasn't interested at the time.

yes, i heard that; was wondering if anyone could elaborate on it. would be interesting to know what finally sold them. doubt we'll ever know.
does monster see the force girls transcending drag racing and to a point even their father?
we are definitely living in a different era now where companies have to be sold, and sold again, & again.
even valvoline has now had their run with dsr as they have been replaced by pennzoil.

What Brittany said was the first time they pitched them, they weren't interested because of John, they knew what he was all about (wasn't a "brand fit"). Then Courtney and Brittany were at a wedding in Mexico that some muckety muck from Monster just happened to be attending and they pestered him all weekend. He finally relented on the condition that only Brittany and Courtney come in and pitch Monster, that John stay at home. They went in and pitched the deal, and from that point it still took almost a year to get it done. My guess is that Coke buying a percentage in the company helped the deal along as well, but in any event, good job Brittany and Courtney!

I am very surprised that Monster came back after the way NHRA treated them at KBR. Monster was testing the waters at KBR to possibly be the equivalent of Coke/Full Throttle/ Mello Yellow on the National tour.
NHRA prohibited the monster girls from leaving pit area, giving out samples, etc. NHRA basically ran them out. Moster quit KBR because of NHRA.

Especially stupid because Monster has proven pretty loyal to their title sponsorships.

To be somewhat fair to NHRA, at that time Powerade/Full Throttle was the title sponsor of the series. Monster was a direct competitor (non Coca-Cola brand). NHRA was in a tough spot, protect the series sponsor and piss of a team's sponsor, or piss off the series sponsor and please the sponsor of 1 team. As has been mentioned in this thread, Coca-Cola now owns a 1/6th share of Monster, so there won't be any conflicts of interest for the sanctioning body, so we should be able to see Monster girls and get samples if that is what they want to do. You guys act like the NHRA is sitting around thinking of ways to piss off teams/sponsors because they have nothing else to do, they could have kept out Monster altogether back then if they wanted to. Instead, KBR got 3 years out of the deal which is a pretty good run for sponsors these days.
Not that I think any of today's racer's would be stupid enough to try it....I heard Hydrazine made the Flames turn Green!

Hydrazine does make the flames turn green, but posessing Hydrazine in the quantity you'd need to get into the fuel tanks of these cars and have it make some appreciable difference would be a quick way to earn knock at the door from Uncle Sam. Now, head gaskets made of copper vaporizing? Yeah, that is a cause of green flames as well.

I've seen it several times. Several well know racers experimented with it thru the years. Used to see it at Indy when folks weren't qualified and time was running out. Forget the color of the header flames you could tell by the sound. As much sound difference between Hydrazine and Nitro as there is between Methanol and Nitro. If you saw the crew pouring out the fuel tank way off in the weeds at the end of the track there was a good possibility there was something besides Nitro in the tank.
