Champion Drag Racer Brett ‘The Boss’ Stevens is heading to Perth this Saturday (18th November) with his Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car, on the prowl for maximum points in what will be the Kwinana Motorplex’s first ever round of the Australian Top Alcohol Championship.
Stevens, who is a regular visitor to Western Australia for the National Top Doorslammer and Top Bike Championship rounds, will be concentrating all of his efforts this weekend on putting his 400 kph Funny Car into the record books as the first person to take out a Top Alcohol Championship round at the strip.
The team’s high expectations for the event are not without merit either after some stellar performances in recent months including Top Qualifying at the recent Australian Nationals at Queensland ’s Willowbank Raceway and taking out the Winternationals back in June.
“In the last 12 months we have really been able to show the potential of the Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car and have consistently run top times,” Stevens said.
“The Top Alcohol bracket is the most competitive it has been in years with us Funny Car drivers really taking it up to the Dragsters that have dominated for so long.”
“We also have a lot of data for the Perth track from racing the Doorslammers and Top Bikes here and should be able to dial the car’s setup straight in.”
“The Motorplex always seems to produce fast times due to it’s location and weather, so I am really excited to see what I can do with the Funny Car as I have never brought it over before.”
“I think we will see some really good performances right across the bracket, especially from some of the local races that race here regularly.”
Stevens was the runner up in the 2005/2006 Australian Top Alcohol Championship in only his second year competing in the Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car.
The Australian built car, out of the Brett Stevens Racing chassis shop, has also held the National Funny Car record with Stevens having a personal best time of 5.63 seconds for the quarter mile, placing it in the top group of Top Alcohol cars of all time in Australia .
With a full field in the Top Alcohol bracket fighting it out for vital Championship points, as well as various other support categories, it will ensure an action packed day for lovers of raw horsepower with a strong possibility of records tumbling.
