Holy crap ~ talk about "plug & play"....you couldn't ask for better chemistry! Jim, Jon & Nicky all wrenched together before. It's still cool even to this day to see Connie Kalitta believing in and giving shots at the big time to "kids".
Good luck Nick & Jon!

I'm confused about the Donnie Bender mention in this?

Kinda reads like he's leaving Snake to be with Kalitta or something?

Could you all sort this out for me?

Thanks

donnie worked for Kalitta under Lahaie back in the 90s when Scott won his two championships along with Nicky B and the O bros....i think they were just mentioning the talent that came off of those crews

When I ignored the what they are doing now parts of the reference I got the following...... (only read the RED text)

Boninfante begins his second stint at Kalitta Motorsports. He first worked for the team as a clutch specialist on team owner and drag racing legend Connie Kalitta’s Top Fuel team in 1991 and 1992. From 1993 until 1996, Boninfante served as clutch specialist on Scott Kalitta’s Top Fuel machine and won back-to-back world championships (1994-1995) with Scott and fellow crewmen Jim Oberhofer, currently the crew chief on the KB Racing, LLC Top Fueler driven by Hillary Will, Jim’s brother Jon Oberhofer, who will work alongside Nick as co-crew chief on the Mac Tools rail, and Donnie Bender, current crew chief on the Larry Dixon-driven Top Fuel dragster.

Maybe now the car will go rounds on Sunday....and you cannot blame Richard for its 'has been' showings lately as he has not been making the bellhousing calls on Sun since Vegas...spoke to him in Seattle and it was eveident Connie was making the calls.

I really like the Kalitta team and hope to see em go some rounds sooner than later and they make the top ten.

Terry,

You are 100% wrong!!! Richard was making ALL of the clutch calls up until the day he left. Sometimes I just wonder why you like to throw people under the bus for no reason. Sometimes the chemistry is not there (obviously that is the case with you & I) and you have to move on to what does work. They are all still friends.

Yesterday they took Doug's car down to Martin, Michigan and ran the car 3 times in a row without losing a cylinder. Nicky was there and the team has quickly "gelled". They are making some great progress and I expect to see that car in the winner's circle very soon. Sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward.

They "TESTED" Yesterday? Or was this at a Match Race of some kind? Either way, very cool! Cool;)

Suzie...easy. I like the Kalitta teams but ever since Tobler left Dougs car has not been a contender on Sunday and many, many others here have expressed the same thoughts.
I was @ Seattle and Richard was not anywhere near that car for the final calls, Connie was....
Like him or not Rahn Tobler is a very respected tuner and it shows wherever he goes...

I'm constantly amazed by your knowledge of everything. Assume you were in the Kalitta pits at Seattle when decisions were being made on static clutch setup. That would mean you are much more closely connected to the team than Susie. -

If anyone knows clutches - it's Nick and he goes back a long way with the team. Susie - thanks for the update, looking forward to some competition at Brainerd! - Jim

Gosh, Jim--How could you think that Suzie would have any inside knowledge on the Kalitta team???? What connections does she have??? I do hear she might be on a first name basis with a crew member or two, though.:D

Y'all watch your mouth. I got news for you - Suzie is a legend in and around the Kalitta pits! :D

Down Boy! Mr. Larsen and I included a  and a :D in response to Mr. Jones' posts!
My guess is that Mr. Jones thinks that last name is a coincidence - :D
Looking forward to some clutch magic from Nick tomorrow - FIRE 'EM UP!

Thanks for watching my back, Jim! But being we both dabble in the graphics world, the Mr. is totally unneccessary! I'm just plain ol' Terry even though--ahem---I did get mentioned in Max Naylor's most recent blog (nothing like shameless self-promotion, huh?) Thanks again, Jim!
