Bob Glidden returns?

Hey I love the positive.attitudes, nuke the negative ones......remember Bob's interview.....the car was almost un-driveable. They have that fixed obviously. Glidden is a legend!! Bob always worked his clutch magic. Reading the racepak screen is one thing......knowing the dials to turn and make changes is another. Glidden knows that.
just my 2 cents

74, 75, x, Dyno, 78, 79, 80, LS, LS, LS, LS, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89
85 wins in 122 finals over 16 years, 10 championships over 16 years
LS... 26 wins in 46 Finals in a little over 4 years, 4 Championships in 4 years
Both numbers would have changed if Lee hadn't died early in 85

Bob was Great, in his time. He has a long road ahead of him, and I really think they should put Billy in the car.

Amen on the first part, Karl!

As for the second part, I would partially agree. At the end of the day, the driver isn't anywhere near part of the equation as to why they're not contenders. Not saying Billy wouldn't do a better job behind the wheel, but they've got mucho more dyno/R&D time ahead of them before they need to worry about who to put in the car.

Did everyone forget about the "boy wonder"? I don't think Dave Connolly would mind driving ANY Pro Stocker. But alas,it's all about the $$$$$$$$$$$...........like how much can you bring to the table;)

Jack, I have to disagree in the case - it's not about the $$$$$

Can Dave Connolly bring the experience gathered from his past to the table and help the overall program? No offense to Dave, but I doubt it. He's a fine driver, but Bob had built these cars, tuned these cars, and won championships with his engineering skills.

The other thing is Bob's "Star Factor". He's chasing down Force for airtime this weekend (and if they didn't show the spat between him and TP every 5 minutes, Bob would most likely be in the lead), and what potential sponsor wouldn't look at that as a very good opportunity!?

?

Saying Dave is a fine driver is an understatement. Current engineering skills...well how did the Dick Maskin/Tom Martino PS effort go?

I'll concede the name recognition point.

Thanks Johnny Mopar and Smiley. It will take time and some sponsorship $$$$ but, I could see this team doing some damage yet this year. I have to agree...the sponsors should be lining up.

He may have built these cars but his experience didn't help with the mopar programs at DSR.

I'm pretty sure Billy's deal with Mickey Thompson Tires would prevent him from running the car. I really think this deal will need more time than 5 qualifying passes to see results. Personally, I'd love to see Bob qualify at Charlotte, I'll be there. But, realistically it wouldn't surprise me to see more DNQ's.

Bob didn't "help" the DSR program. He BUILT it, from nothing. Put Jeg's car in the show at every race and won the Finals I believe. The whole program was doomed, in my opinion, because somebody insisted on a driver for the second car that couldn't do the job, which created a lot of unnecessary tension. And, because Jeg Sr. thought he knew more about tuning a P/S car than a ten time world champion, which created even more unnecessary tension. If Shumacher had put two capable drivers in there, and made Glidden the BOSS, that could have been a feared program for years.

You Nailed it Mack. I could not agree more.
