For a variety of reasons Phil Burkart Jr., wasn't been able to stage Bob Gilbertson's car in the first three sessions. It leaves Prock in 16th.Though his car was entered. Didn't see any times posted. Did they not run?

He was at the last IHRA with Jon Capps driving. Not sure why they didn’t make an attempt that weekend either.I think Bob needs to get to the other organization and work out the cobwebs
it had nothing to do with the brakes. they were only able to make 1 attempt and the safety shutoff killed the car on the burnout. not sure what else kept them from the other 3 qualifying runsDid the brakes on the car stop working so he was unable to get the car to stop to stage the car 3 times?![]()
He must have been taking lessons from lex joon hahaThis isn't about Mr. Gilbertson specifically, but over the years it seems there have been several low budget teams who enter, skip multiple qualifying sessions, then aren't even able to stage the car for various reasons when they do try for the last gasp in the final session.
It seems logical that trying for all (or at least 3 of the 4) sessions helps locate these gremlins. Can't stage the car in Q1, there's Q2. Have a leak in Q2, fix it and there are 2 more chances Saturday.
Imo, low budget is a poor argument. A guy with limited funds can attempt in Q1 as easy as Q4, and if the proverbial 50 cent part breaks or a leak, car won't start, etc. happens, there are other chances.
If the guy makes the best pass he can in Q1 and decides to sit out the other sessions, his choice but at least he gave himself a chance. Waiting til Q4 and have to shut off? Seems like he could have thought more strategically.
Plus, there are a lot of expenses just getting the car, transporter, and crew to the track for the weekend. Why show up at all if you are not prepared? Always seems odd when this occurs, but I suspect it is due to part-time and/or less-experienced crew members trying to get the car together with minimal prep time in advance. You would think more of these teams would take the Zizzo approach and have a really well-prepped car that just shows up for a few events. And when Zizzo shows up, they are ready to rock and compete with the top teams. And, I don't think Zizzo has much of a budget to work with either. Lex has been running well, for within his budget the last 2 years now. He has a (new to him) chassis, that I believe is an old Langdon car, and are almost to having their tune-up match the new car.He must have been taking lessons from lex joon haha
