Just read on NHRA.com. I know he's been in a coma for a long time. This is really sad, Billy was a tough racer, from my favorite era of the Pro Comp class. RIP Billy
Man, I was just thinking about Billy last week. I remember that night like it was last night.
God speed Billy, you are finally at peace.
Our condolences to Billy's family and friends
Me too Thomas. I was thinking we haven't heard any updates on Billy. I had hoped he was improving. I guess now he doesn't have to suffer but it's still really sad. I really feel bad for Doug Herbert, first the boys and now Billy. Doug and Billy were buddies and Doug was trying to help with Billy's ordeal.
Given Billy's quality of life (or lack thereof) for the past few years since the accident this closes a very dark chapter of his great life. Our prayers will go out to his remaining family and my gratitude will be forever in favor of Doug Herbert's awesome care of his friend. All Doug did for Billy and his family defined what kind of a person he really was. We all get to see the best side of these racers when the microphone is in their face after yet another victory but to know all the selfless service Herbert performed behind the scenes in behalf of Billy and his family was an inspiration for me to be and do so much better.
Let us all remember the tenacious racer Billy Williams was.
