Veteran racer Bill Mullins, the only driver in NHRA history to win in Top Gas, Top Alcohol Dragster, and Top Fuel, passed away April 10 at age 88, and his story and life are remembered here.

what a good article.....who knew about first to run high gear only......i remember seeing this trailer way back in late 80's.
not sure if bill, john carey, or hank endres was driving.

As much as I like reading articles by Phil Burgess, it seems he has been writing too many of these types of stories lately.

I remember seeing his car back in the day at Milan Dragway. Was a new car I believe blue and yellow , not a sticker or name anywhere on it the car. It's was just a stunning looking car.

There has been so many recently some go by without even an acknowledgment. Alky racers Dale Van Gundy and Jay Meyer passed away recently as well.

Bill ran a little repair shop here in Birmingham in the Woodlawn area. We would go by late at night and he was always working on something. As you can tell by the article he was a fitness nut. It was rumored he had never eaten a hambuger. He was a a legend for sure and I really hate to hear of his passing.
