Wow.... just, wow.![]()
And what, just kick Prock to the curb?
In a word, Yes.
I don't know how this all went down to get to this point to where John Medlen left. I wouldn't have let him go UNLESS THAT IS WHAT JOHN MEDLEN WANTED. John has been with Force what, 15 years? They have been through good times and horrible times. I was just surprised to hear that John Medlen will no longer be with John Force. If you only have 1 spot open for a position, you keep the better man, and in my opinion that is John Medlen.
Prock has been tuning the AAA car since John brought it out with Densham driving. which was what, 10 years ago?... And it just won a championship last year!
Actually, JFR started testing the AAA car with Densham driving @ Baytown in 2001. Greg Amaral, Densham's current crew chief, was his crew chief then. Gary stayed on for the first year and then Prock was hired. Only been 8 yrs.
I am starting to think, and it's just a hunch, that perhaps Medlen to DSR is NOT exactly what's going to happen. Perhaps he is simply going to work with Lee Beard on the Wheel issue for a while?
Either way, I'm sure we will find out the details soon.
Anyone pull a "Dwight Schrute" today and stakeout DSR?

I work about 5-10 minutes from the shop so ditched work in an attempt to find out only to get caught up in something that can only be compared to what those nutjobs who attempt to break into Area 51 must experience.
I tried to scout it out only to be turned around 1/4 mile from the shop by the swarm of Hendrick's County Sheriffs who were hired to provide a secure perimeter around the DSR "Skunk Works" at the request of Don Schumacher.
A Sheriff who asked not to be identified confirmed that they were there for that very reason. In addition, a no fly zone was also issued within a 5 mile radius of the shop from 8am until 7pm local time. As a result, many flights in and out of Indianapolis International Airport were affected by the temporary directive for the better part of the business day according to the local news reports.
As if that wasn't enough, later in the evening upon the close of DSR shop, numerous black SUV's (some obviously decoys) with blacked out windows were spotted leaving the DSR "Skunk Works" each in different directions and each with a police escort in an obvious attempt to covertly provide diversions in order to provide the mysterious megastar with a safe and undetected trip home.
Sources close to the situation confirmed that the plan to use multiple identical vehicles was employed to decrease the likelihood of media, paparazzi and over enthusiastic fans from discovering who this new ultra-prestigious member of DSR is at this time.
A spokesperson for Don Schumacher delivered a brief message via MySpace indicating that DSR has tentatively scheduled a press conference for 11am Wednesday, March 10, 2010.
Insiders say that the reason the press conference has been delayed until Wednesday is that both sides are carefully dotting the "i's" and crossing the "t's" on what is believed to be a lifetime contract in the neighborhood of $500 million dollars plus a $100 million dollar signing bonus.
Speculation is rampant among the NHRA ranks that the hiring of this new team member will send shock waves throughout the racing world and that this potential addition will result in many mid level and independent teams throwing in the towel and calling it quits feeling that if the there's no possible way they can ever win again should this happen.
Stay tuned for further developments.
