BIG THINGS IN STORE FOR DANNY ROWE AND TEAM IN 2008

LAGUNA HILLS, CA – Pro Modified racing, as a whole, has greatly changed since the days of Friday night Quick-8 competition; matter of fact – it’s a mile different. Not only do the cars perform leaps and bounds better than they did, they also take even more dedication, talent and skill to be successful with.

In the rough and tumble world of Pro Mod racing, where data is king and laps make champs – it’s difficult to succeed without multiple cars making passes down the track with similar combinations. In an effort to bring Danny Rowe Racing to the absolute forefront of NHRA/AMS Pro Modified drag racing, Rowe has added a second car and driver to his stable.

“It’s obvious that the competition within the NHRA/AMS Pro Mod program is incredibly tough,” explained Rowe. “Knowing that in advance, though, will be what keeps us out of trouble and in the money rounds as we’re prepared for what lies before us. I’ve put together a two-car program for 2008 and brought Kirk Kuhns in to drive the car. The learning process in drag racing is so slow that unless you have a couple cars; you really can’t be as effective as possible. That’s where Kirk comes into play. I’ve known Kirk for a long time, back to when we were running with the West Coast Pro Mod Association and I felt that he’d be a great guy to race with. The two of us were able to put together a deal that worked for both of us and now it’s all about hitting the ground running – working towards a World Championship.”

Danny Rowe Racing has acquired everything necessary to operate a two-car team in the NHRA/AMS Pro Modified Challenge in 2008 including trucks, trailers and the involved mechanical equipment. Of course, Jimmy Rector will handle the tuning of Rowe’s fan-favorite Gainsborough Capital ’67 Chevy Camaro again in 2008 along with the team’s second car.

Out of the gate, Kuhns will pilot his well-known 1941 Willy’s Pro Mod and along with his abilities at the wheel and many years of experience in a Pro Mod; Kuhns brings Embee Performance (Engine Pistons, Piston Coating, Racing Engines - Embee Performance Coatings) and General Plumbing along with him as associate sponsors for the well-established team. Danny Rowe Racing has the new Willy’s scheduled to be painted to match in the coming weeks.

“We couldn’t be more excited,” said Rowe. “You always hear people in the racing industry talk about a ‘race team’ and the theory and reality is that you have to have more than one car providing data for the crew-chief. Look at John Force Racing for example, he has four cars running under one umbrella and is one of the most dominating teams in the sport. We’re trying to apply the same thinking to Pro Modified in the NHRA and would like to see the same kind of results. We’ve made a serious commitment to our performance in 2008 and there is no question what we’re trying to do here. Both Kirk and I are focused on winning the NHRA/AMS Pro Modified Challenge Championship and that’s the bottom line.”

Both Rowe and new teammate Kirk Kuhns will compete in all 10 events on the NHRA/AMS Staff Leasing Pro Modified Challenge Series tour in 2008. Judging by the attitude carried into the beginning of this racing season, you can bet that the Rowe and Rector Connection, along with their newest addition, Kuhns, will come out ‘guns blazing’ in the NHRA next year.
