Folks

Jack went in shallow because that is what he chose to do. We do not direct the drivers on what to do on race day, it is their decision 100%. I do not beleive any fuel drivers feel nitro cars will roll backwards with the clutch engaged tugging on the motor. Jack nor I ever felt Jack won the round against Robert. We did discuss the situation with NHRA because of concern for races being decided on a red light when there might be a malfunction rather then a driver error in a car getting a red light. NHRA and their electronics experts will review everything to determine what the cause was. We have many feelings about what happaned and caused this but we do not feel Jack beat Robert, period.

I hope this gives everyone some answers.

Don,

thanks for the response, which should put the topic to bed.

Jack isn't a crybaby as some stated on Bobby's site, and the car never moved. I watched it in high definition frame by frame and the car didn't even start to squat on the back tires before the prestage and stage lights went blank and the red light came on.

Jack's contention isn't that the race wasn't fair because he knows Hight beat him to the finish line. It's a what if...what if it happens next time and he did beat Hight to the finish line? Sponsor dollars, winnings, points, Wally's, driver and crew working their butts off only to lose like this, etc., are all at stake.

Maybe something Jeff Foster can clear up for me. In pro stock motorcycle at Gainsville I watched one racer prestage, then the other prestage. Both sat there a long time. One of the racers rolled forward and lit the stage, and in less than a second he rolled back putting the stage light out. But the prestage stayed lit. If Jack rolled back, as has been stated, why did his prestage light go out at the same time as the stage light...which was also the same time the red came on? Was it because the tree was activated? As the cars drive out of the beams on a normal run you can see the prestage light go out followed by the stage light. Doesn't make sense to me that both beams deactivate the same time when the car never moved.

Once tree is activated and the stage beam is re-established the pre-stage and stage lights go out the pre-stage and stage lights are locked off so they wont flicker as you drive through the beams. been this way for at least 15 years now Randy.

Just curious. I have ESPN2 videos of my car from the camera in front of the tree where you can see the prestage light go out as the car leaves the beams, then the stage follows. Are you saying the opposite is not true, if the stage light goes out first then both go out at the same time?
