The veteran racer powered his Matco Tools rail to the No. 3 qualifying slot Saturday afternoon with a run of 4.582-seconds.

On his final qualifying effort, Bazemore blasted the Matco-backed rail to a run of 4.626 at 323.74 on a hot Brainerd race track to finish third in the 16-car order. It is the second time that he has qualified third this year ( Topeka ). Bazemore’s 4.582-second elapsed time was the third quickest pass of the day.

“It’s been a good weekend in qualifying,” Bazemore said. “The car has responded well to Lee’s (Beard) input and Lee’s made good decisions. We feel confident about racing (David) Grubnic on Sunday and we look forward to having a good day.”

Bazemore will match-up against David Grubnic when final eliminations begin at 11 a.m. (CT) on Sunday at B.I.R. He is 0-1 against the Australian native this year. ESPN2 will televise three hours of final eliminations coverage at 7 p.m. (ET) on Sunday evening.
