June 19, 2007 ( KANSAS CITY , MO ) – After back-to-back wins in Super Chevy competition, Barklage Racing takes a little break at hits hometown competition with the 5th Annual Soul Brothers Racing in Kansas City , Missouri .
With a couple of starts from the pole position, a runner-up finish and two wins, the team is running with confidence and momentum. Although, the team is heading into local competition, they know they have a tough weekend ahead.
“We always go out to win,” said Zach Barklage. “We know there will be a lot of good cars like Swearingen out. We want to take our success we’ve had on the road and step things up at home. Cody has a couple of big wins, so now I feel I need to get back on my game and do the same.”
Despite his big wins, and recent success Cody Barklage will not compete this weekend. “We have had some mechanical difficulties recently,” said Cody Barklage. “Because of that, we have made the decision to sit my car out and prepare for the upcoming Super Chevy Show in Indy. Although I won’t be in competition, I will be around to give my support to my brother. I always want to see our team do well.”
Although the team is keeping their eyes on the business of racing, the team will be competing with heavy hearts.
“We are all deeply saddened by the tragic incident in Selmer , TN involving the fellow Pro Mod team of AMS Racing,” said team owner Mark Barklage. “This situation has been felt by everyone in our industry as a whole. The families involved, Dave Woods and the entire AMS team are in our thoughts and prayers. Dave Woods and AMS has supported Pro Mod racing throughout the country for years, so we are here to lend our support to him now.”
With some wind in the sails of the entire team, Barklage Racing is making it clear they are hungry for more wins. During the short break in Super Chevy Competition, Barklage Racing will be making their presence known on a local front for the next few weeks.
