BARKLAGE RACING ON TOP COMING INTO HOMETOWN SUPER CHEVY SHOW
Cody Barklage No. 1 in Nitro Coupe Points

KANSAS CITY, MO (August 14, 2007) – After taking the No. 1 qualifying spot and winning the race in Chicago last week, Cody Barklage is heading to Kansas City with a lot of momentum and feeling confidant being tied again for first in the Aeromotive Fuel Systems Nitro Coupe class. However, he is not the only Barklage gaining ground and racing well. Older brother Zach Barklage also went to the final round just last weekend and is now No. 3 in points.

“Things have come together nicely,” commented Cody Barklage. Last weekend was good for us. I was the low qualifier, we ran the quickest during competition, and we had another all Barklage final round. I was able to get back into the points lead with our win, and hopefully we can have a repeat this weekend in Kansas City .”

The team not only will be working hard at gaining a substantial lead in points, but will also be working at gaining another event win at home. Kansas City International Raceway is the hometown track for the Lake Ozark , MO based team. Winning several events at KCIR, the team is anxious to race at a familiar track with the support of family and friends.

“We always enjoy racing at Kansas City ,” said Zach Barklage. “We have done very well there in the past and hope our previous experiences there will help us. We had the track record until very recently, and have several event wins there, so I know that can only help us. Our race program has come around very well and we are racing fast and consistent. As the year is winding down, ever round win is very important to points chase. I think we will need to stay consistent, and try to be on top of our game for this weekend.”

Similar to last weekend’s race in Chicago , Barklage Racing will once again play host to the U.S. Marine Corps local recruiters. The team, who has a strong appreciation for the Corps will again boast the Marine emblem on the side of Zach Barklage’s 1957 Chevy Nitro Coupe and the team will aid local Kansas City area recruiters.

“We had a nice time with recruiters in Joliet last weekend,” said team owner Mark Barklage. “We really appreciate with the Marines do for our country and enjoy doing what we can to show our appreciation. Just like last weekend, we will be teamed up with the Marine Corps, and will host local recruiters. Anything we can do to help those guys is our pleasure.”

Zach and Cody Barklage and the entire team will be on hand for the Super Chevy Show after party on Friday, August 17 at Buffalo Wild Wings in Raytown , MO. The party will begin at 8:00 PM and everyone is invited.
