[coverattach=1]BAYTOWN, TX (March 5, 2009) – Barklage Racing driver Cody Barklage will pilot his Lucas Oil Firebird in the American Drag Racing League season opener, Safety-Kleen Dragpalooza V, at Houston Raceway Park this weekend.
“We went testing last weekend to try and get the car lined out,” said Barklage. “We made a few launches and figured out some things, so hopefully we’ll have a good weekend. Our plan is to do our best, qualify well and go some rounds. We’ve had some challenges with the new car, so overcoming them is our overall goal. We’ve worked very hard, so now is the time to make our hard work pay off.”
With the start of a new season, comes a renewed sense of hope and optimism for the team. After enduring two previous years of bad luck and countless tragedies, the team is re-grouped, re-focused and ready for action.
“It’s been a long off season, and the new optimism we’re feeling as a team is nice,” added Barklage. “We’ve worked countless hours preparing for this weekend. We’ve faced some of our hardest times and biggest challenges the past couple of seasons, but we’re sure our team will back this year as major contenders and tough competitors. We’re known for racing smart and making good choices with our cars, and we’re sure this season we’ll be able to race the way everyone is used to seeing us. We want to do this for our family, our fans and our sponsors. I have high expectations for myself, team and my Lucas Oil Firebird.”
Barklage Racing and the ADRL begins the 2009 season with the Safety-Kleen Dragpalooza V at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown , Tx this weekend, March 6 – 7.
Barklage Racing would like to acknowledge Lucas Oil, Taylor Cable, Sunoco, NGK Sparkplugs, Goodson, Goodyear, Lake Race Products, P & A Drywall, Mark Barklage Drywall, Moreland Well Drilling and Weld Wheels.
