KANSAS CITY, MO (August 21, 2007) – With the points lead and hometown support giving Barklage Racing momentum the team was hoping to show family and friends what they can do on the track.
Taking the No. 1 and No. 2 qualifying position was an ideal way to kick off the weekend. Qualifying much quicker then their competition, the team felt an overwhelming sense of confidence. With the desire to widen the points gap between Cody Barklage and Tony Williams, and to boost Zach Barklage to the second place position, the team was eager to go rounds. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. With rain coming and going all day on Sunday, the team will have to resume their quest in Bristol , Tennessee late in September.
“We had two very good cars this weekend,” commented Cody Barklage. “We always come to a race to win, and it was apparent this weekend. I am feeling good with the points lead for now, but Tony [Williams] is a good racer. We need to widen the gap as much as possible if we want to hang on. Both of our cars made it past round one, but so did Tony Williams.”
“We always seem to do well in Kansas City ,” said Zach Barklage. “We’ve won a lot of local races there, and we are familiar with the track. It’s always nice to do well with our family and friends there, but we also take this as a normal race weekend. We are disappointed we didn’t get the race in but we also feel good after round one. Cody and I both will advance to the semi-finals when we make it all up in Bristol .”
The team will now turn their eyes to other local and national level competition in the coming weeks. Barklage Racing will resume Super Chevy Show competition September 21 – 23 in Bristol , Tennessee .
Barklage Racing would like to acknowledge U.S. Marine Corps, Lucas Oil, Taylor Cable, Torco Racing Fuels, NGK Sparkplugs, Goodson, Goodyear, Lake Race Products, P & A Drywall, Mark Barklage Drywall, Moreland Well Drilling, Weld Wheels, Aeromotive Fuel Systems, and Super Chevy Show.
