BARKLAGE RACING HAS RUNNER UP FINISH in KANSAS CITY

KANSAS CITY , MO. (June 30, 2008) – Zach Barklage had a productive weekend with his Lucas Oil, Sunoco Race Fuel Pontiac GTO last weekend at KCIR’s 6th Annual Soul Brothers 1/8 mile Pro Mod race. Starting Sunday from the No. 3 spot, Barklage qualified with a 4.03 at over 180 MPH.
“Right now, the car is running very well,” said Zach Barklage. “We’ve worked very hard on our consistency, along with our speed and I feel we’re accomplishing what we’ve set out to do. The competition was tough and some teams were running very big numbers. This is one of the tracks we consider our hometown track, and I’ve spent a lot of time in Kansas City . We know the track well, so it always helps to know what to expect.”
Barklage advanced through three rounds of eliminations to find himself in the final round against the event low qualifier Travis Swearingen. Barklage was first off the line, but unfortunately Swearingen was able to chase him down despite Barklage running his quickest of the event. Barklage ran a fast 3.99 but lost to Swearingen’s 3.87.
“Travis ran very fast in the final round,” Barklage went on to say. “My team and crew chief Chad Wilson did what they needed to do, but it wasn’t quite enough. Although we were runner-up, we are pleased with our performance. We were very consistent and even stepped it up for the final round a bit. Throughout the event we made seven very clean and consistent passes, and I feel that says a lot about where our operation is going.”
To add to the excitement of the weekend, Barklage Racing announces a new partnership with Sunoco Race Fuel through their company Lake Race Products. Serving central Missouri , Lake Race Products offers Lucas Oil Products, Pit Mat USA, Master Formula, and now Sunoco Race Fuel.
“We are pleased and excited to now offer a full range of Sunoco Race Fuel products,” said team owner Mark Barklage. “We had started with a partnership with Torco Race Fuels at the beginning of last year, but as with many in our industry, we just had to make some tough business decisions. We thank Torco for their past support and wish them the best in the future. Now, with a new product line available, we hope to further service our customers. Lake Race Products is hoping to cultivate the growing high performance boat market in our local area of Lake of the Ozarks , along with the automotive racing industry we love. Hopefully this new partnership will enhance our business, as well as our winning race operation.”
