Austin Prock interview Phoenix (10 Viewers)

I don't like the optics that surrounded the Procks leaving JFR. Having said that, they had their reasons and it is a business. But I don't think you can question the skills that Jimmy, Austin and Thomas bring as a package. We've all seen good teams not qualify. I do believe that it doesn't show well that someone wasn't around on Sunday of the Gators. As far as his interviews, he's always been hyped up and a little raw and if I recall, that is something that the majority of drag racings fans say they miss. And if I was a sponsor, I'd be pissed if my sponsored driver didn't convey some kind of negative emotions when they didn't qualify. While I'll be cheering for other drivers to win more often than not, I do believe that the sport is better with Austin Prock in it than they are without him.

OK, I'm off the bash-Prock train. Got the message when my post on the subject was deleted.

None of my business what Tasca or any of his sponsors do or don't do with Prock anyway. If he stays with Tasca I hope they right the ship and he has a successful season. Maybe he'll reset the first time he wins another race. Over and out.

How many guys here own, drive or work on or pay for Nitro racing ?
I don't know if this qualifies - owned, drove and tuned T/F for two years followed by building, owning and tuning for an additional eleven years. Consulted for two more years. Knew Jimmy Prock when he worked for Kenny Bernstein and Dick LaHaie. Austin is a young Jimmy before he matured. Currently working behind the scenes in marketing partner acquisition with several teams.

Bad request; access denied. More information needed. :D

At the end of the day pro drag racing is a business. The numbers have to support the return. I love JF and all his drivers, current and former. At this time the Procks are at the top of their game and it's a free market. Their demands did not fit into JFR budget and Tasca made them an offer they couldn't refuse it appears.

Legit question:
Do you want some real, raw emotion? or
Do you want dull, scripted, bland, pre-wrtten (might as well be pre-recorded) answers.

I know what I want to hear, and it's the same that I tried to elicit from drivers when I held the mic.

Alan
How about neither?

How about real without the emotion? Seen interviews in the past with Snake, Coil, WJ, Mike Dunn, and some others that sure seemed that way.

You know, the Joe Friday-just the facts ma'am.
How many times have you gotten to the top end after a run of which it fell into a good, bad, or ugly run and your emotions are over the top? How did you handle it?

There is a difference between hardcore, emotional, and sniveling, whining......................how I think he comes across.

What about W.J. "I taught the punk a lesson."
Or Snake after Jim Nicoll crashed "I'm going to quit"
That wasn't emotional?

Alan
You forgot the GOAT emotional outburst - Pedregon vs. Force, Indy, 2009. :) Loved the 'teaching that punk a lesson, too. Force vs Lee Beard. Enders vs Tanner Gray. Racers complaining about double bulbing. But those are 1 on 1 emotions, Alan, not a generalization and blame directed at the sanctioning body conducting the race and the ones who pay the bills - the fans. I'm not even sure it was deserved. Hunter Green ran 4.10/319 in the same lane immediately before Prock in Q4 and Vandergriff ran 3.99/330 in the other lane immediately thereafter. Improperly prepped?

I agree, reading off the list of sponsors to thank gets pretty boring. But raw emotion doesn't include Steve Torrence whacking Cameron Ferre or Ron Capps punching Whit Bazemore in the mouth track-end or Michael Phillps publicly threatening Matt Smith or the pitside gangfight between Elite and the Grays. There's spicy and then there's out of line. Put cayenne pepper on my food but please don't throw it in my face.

I said I wasn't going to keep bashing Prock and that's not what I'm doing. But I'd like to ask one question - what do you believe John Force, someone you know as well as anyone and better than most, would say about what's happened here if Prock were still driving for him? Not to the general public, now, but to Prock himself?
