I'm thinking of switching over to vonage for my home line.

I'll still have a business land line with AT&T.

Right now I have comcast, the service is good, but billing errors are incessant, and I'm fed up.

Besides, comcast is 50 bucks a month, vonage $9.95 special for the first three months, then 24.95 after that.

anyone with any input?

I had Vonage before, my only problem was when the internet would go down you were SOL for phone service. I currently have AT&T bundle package where I have unlimited long distance and local for $30 per month, but I also have internet and TV through them also.

Rex,
I have it and love it. I was weary at first, but Vonage allows you to enter a secondary number (cell phone) that will ring if someone calls and your internet is down.

I got on board with a $9.95 per month for the first 3, then $24.95 each month after that. The only problem I had was bad connection when uploading huge files to work, but I set my router to give the port that my Vonage "modem" is on priority (QoS) and I haven't had a problem since.

The clarity is much better then my old Cox digital phone.

The portability is nice too, I will often go to my family's vacation house and work from there, so now I can bring the "modem" with me, and my phone will work there.

PM me if you need any info..

Well, I still do have a AT&T business line hooked to my home, so lack of service would not be a problem.

And THAT line costs me $100. a month:eek:

Same line as a residential, AT&T even told me, it's just that business customers pay more, even if it residential:mad:

In other words, I hate AT&T:o

JMO, i still think comcast has the best internet, and I already had satellite TV.

No thanks.

Heavy rain or snow (days most likely I'd want to relax and watch the tube)......no signal.

THAT didn't last long.

I was just wondering how good the service was,in general, As I rarely lose internet.

Thanks, REX

I had vonage and hated it. We use cox for internet and when ever I would be downloading or streaming anything, the reception on the phone went to crap, you would hear every third word someone would say. Most people on the other end would say it sounded like I was talking to them from inside a tin can. I thought maybe it was my phones, so I went out and bought all new phones and still had the same problem. I did like others and bundled my phone in and got a good deal.

I did have that issue until I set the port that my Vonage modem was connected to to have high priority and haven't had the problem since. The router will ensure the port that Vonage is connected to has priority, and reserve the bandwidth for it.

I had a brief issue w/getting my correct # (I NEED it for business), called Vonage, and they told me it could take 10-15 days to resolve:confused::mad:.

After tryin' to 'splain this to the lady a few times, I said F&^# it and unplugged the phone.

I suppose this tactic worked, as the next day I had my correct #.

So far this service is teriffic, Clear, great features, low cost, and thanks to you Brian, we BOTH get two months free.

So if any 'maters out there want to try it, contact Brian (or me:o), and we will both get two months free (the referrer, and the referee)

It sets up in two minutes (even for a dummy like me), and has almost every bell and whistle you could want for 25 smackers a month:)
