So you have any video to share?

That was only a joke, I couldn't love you more! Also I was thinking a lighter side thought might brighten an otherwise tough time. Hang in there kid.

Haahahahaaaa! Believe me, you don't want to see video of this! I don't know why I even said that! The YMCA has a glass enclosed pool right here in downtown Fort Worth and I parade my fat around the pool with pride!!! Everyone in downtown Fort Worth knows what I look like in a bathing suit!!!:D

Thanks Bobby, I needed a good laugh!:D

Are you tired when you get up in the morning? Your body may be fine with fewer hours of sleep. I've found the older I get the more of a nightowl I've become. Go to bed after midnight...up and working by 7.
Exercise helps, no/low caffeine, don't turn the TV on in the bedroom when you are ready to sleep...
don't take meds if you don't have to...and I work for a pharmaceutical company :D

Hey Joe, there are a lot of possibilities so I'll tell what helped me a lot. Exercise! I have to work out in the evening because my body is way too tight in the mornings (insert your own age joke here). I tend to workout at least 1.5 hours on the weekdays (6pm till 7:30), come home, have something very light to eat, and get to bed around 9:30 or 10 and sleep like a baby. When I don't work out, like when we are away on vacation I notice a drastic change. The other thing is "Don't drink alcohol". If you do you'll probably notice that you will get about 3 1/2 hours of sleep and then wake up. That is normal if you do drink. Besides Alcohol is for race cars :D. Caffine is another to stay away from. If you stress try puting yourself in a "happy place" of your choice, mind over matter, as that too helps me. Good luck!

As we get older we don't want to waste time on such an unproductive enterprise such as sleeping. I sleep about 6 to 6 1/2 hours, sometimes not all at one whack.
I'm just the opposite. When I was in my 20's and early 30's, I thought sleep was a waste of time. 3 or 4 hours a night and pulling an all-nighter once a week was common. Now, I want/need 6 1/2 to 8 hours a night, and have no problem getting that unless there is something that is really stressing me out.

Given my sometimes hectic travel schedule, I'm blessed in that not only can I sleep on airplanes, I almost always do sleep on airplanes. I've slept through take offs and not woken up until the tires hit the runway during landing. That's why I always get window seats. The window won't get upset when I lean against it to snooze, but other passengers sometimes will. ;)

Let's see who is it that has as a quote that he wants to die like his grandfather in his sleep and not like the passengers in the back seat of his grandfathers car.
Well at a youngish sixty [ ate as a senior today ] everything is breaking down why not sleeping habits ?
Anyone know where to buy a book on aging ?
Babies have books why not seniors.

Man it seems as I get closer to 50, getting a good night's sleep is becoming Harder and harder! I find myself dragging (pun) around at work. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all open. I wouldn't mind drugs like Nuresta (sp?) orthat Abe Lincoln commercial drug, but only as a last resort.

Joe I feel ya partner. I used to not be able to sleep at night myself. For me it was a case of unused energy and noise issues. When I say noise I mean it was too quiet. I started getting up around 5am each day with the intent of eating breakfast and reading the paper at 6 at the local breakfast joint. That helped. I also have a small fan in the room and a jazz station on. Sounds like a lot but for me it was too quiet to go to sleep. Good luck.

Cut Back on BEER????;):p

I know everyone here thinks I drink Beer 24/7, the truth of the Matter is 90% of my alcohol consumption is on weekends! I rarely drink during the week fearing it will become something I have to do, and I've known too many alcoholics to want to get in that predicament.

Yeah, I figured the cutting back on beer would get ya ;).

You might try maybe an air purifier in your room, or like Steve said, maybe some light music, on a timer so if you fall asleep it'll go off.

I have a hard time sleeping when there are lights in my room blinking. Can't sleep with the TV on either.

Thanks for the welcome back again, and I'm almost free - not quite there yet.

I'm actually at a friends house, my computer needs to be repaired. Right now I'm losing sleep over that, I can't wait until it's fixed.

whenever i have trouble sleeping i just start the playback of my recording of the most recent nhra qualifying show and 'wala' by the time the 2nd pair of nitro cars are coasting 50mph towards the finish line i'm out like a light :p
