In 1991 when Ed Parker tagged Bob Newberry sending Bob head first into the wall destroying his car? I used to have that episode of NHRA 2 day that had that clip, but I think I lost it!!

Does anyone know of video of this? Cant find nuthin on youtube but found some other videos on the classic funny car boards that were worth watching albeit it pretty shocking crashes. I cant get enough of the history of this great sport. Wish I was born 20 years earlier.

I still have part of Newberry's FC body in a box somewhere....remember that day well.
What made the crash so devastating was that Newb hit a large opening in the track, which was originally for cars to be push started out of the pits, then became an ambulance area.
After that event, it was finally sealed off.

I was standing along the fence at about 900 feet. Newbury's rear tire went directly over my head and hit a pick up truck in the nose. I heard Newbury paid the owner for the damage.

The tire was actually about forty feet in the air when it passed me, although over the years it has gotten lower & lower. :)

Talked to Ed Parker last week at the Divisional at Lebanon Valley. He works on the "Follow A Dream" Alky Funny Car.

I remember also that day getting interviewed in tower and addressing the situation of him not being at the E-Town US All Pro funny Car Championships a few weeks before.

I seem to recall that too. He had just burnt two cars at Brainerd, which back then was two weeks before Indy. So I'm sure they were getting a new car ready for Indy.

Bartlett had the Sentry Eagle car that's so famous in a lot of the crash videos from the 80's...
