I was just looking at the 2009 National Event schedule in the latest National Dragster and I noticed over 1/3 of the races next year do not have title sponsors. The 3 largest media markets NY, LA, and Chicago each have races with no sponsor next year. I would image the costs to be a title sponsor of a race may go down in this environment.

Trivia Question???

This year national events and teams were sponsored and didn't get paid... Name that sponsor...

There is your answer!

Wow, that is interesting - 8 unsponsored races.

But on further examination, O'Reilly (with their CSK purchase) went from 8 races this year to 5 next year. And for Torco to not be there for Rt66 is not a shock :)

But to go from one unsponsored race in '08 to eight in '09 is pretty stunning. Let's hope the NHRA marketing department is working hard on fixing this.

Or we could all go together and sponsor a race -- call it the MaterNationals. :D

not to mention tons of sponsors on cars leaving, that 1,000 ft thing and countdown thing is really working, the tv #s must be staggering i guess :D

We were discussing this exact thing at Vegas.
I didn't see Summit or AC Delco on either Vegas 2009 events.

I think in '01 or '02 it was about $250k to be a title sponsor for a race. What is it today?
