He was loose well before the 1000' mark. The prep thing is irrelevant.

For the record though, you can see them spraying the top end on NHRA.tv right before this pair.

first thing I thought of when they interviewed Greg was The Professor. He is sounding just like his old boss. If they don't want to spray to 1320 then either run 1000 or give PS some downforce. BTW looked to me like he drove out of the groove.

Why dont we just reduce races to 60ft. We dont need to shorten races,if anything go back to 1/4. Problem solved with ps
they do this on Long Island where there were no tracks till recently. They called it hole shot drag racing. Still not a real track there, they are allowed to use an old runway.

If grip is an issue in Pro Stock, why are the teams, or NHRA not adding down-force to solve the problem?

I have wondered the same thing for years. Not only Pro Stock, but Pro Mod as well (even more so). Yes, it would slow them down, but they have slowed cars before in the name of safety.

While Greg has been in the right calling out poor prep in the past, Phoenix & Seattle 2010 come to mind, he was wrong on Sunday. His car got loose because he was well out of the groove and he was sideways well before 1000'. Like Alan mentioned they sprayed right before he ran and other than Cerbone who was also out of the groove on his run nobody else had trouble from what I recall. I'm sure when Greg got back to the trailer and took a look at the footage he will realized he flat drove it out of the groove. While Greg was wrong, I do not blame him for what he said because in the heat of the moment with a microphone in your face and without looking at the footage you will not always say whats correct.

I dont think its as simple as just adding more spoiler to the back of the cars, If I remember correctly, after the fiasco in Phoenix years ago they added a wicker bill on the rear deck lid and multiple drivers complained that it was actually throwing the balance of the car off and was actually making the front end lighter thus making steering more difficult/loose.

He went down the same track and prep as everyone else. They managed it. One even won on it! Amazing!

I would trust Greg Andersons or Warren Johnsons assessment of a race track way before I would listen to any of you keyboard jockeys. Including Alan R. NHRA doesn't care about anybody but the fuel cars. Had a good friend drive all the way from Texas to run S/C and they ran the semi's right after TAD without touching the track and there was so much crap on it he damn near crashed his 180mph dragster. You think it's safe for pro stock car?
I've never seen them prep a track after TAD and before the Sportsmen classes unless there's been an oildown, but whatever. Glad your friend held on to it. And I'd trust Anderson's assessment of a PS run long before I'd trust my assessment, for obvious reasons. But first, I'm not just a keyboard jockey and second, I know what we saw when Anderson's run was replayed in SloMo. A rank ass novice knows that crap tends to collect on either side of the groove and Anderson drifted off into it somewhere around the 800-900 foot mark. It appeared he corrected back towards the groove under power - with the LR tire in the marbles - and that's likely what upset the car, not poor track preparation. The car in the other lane, Enders, ran straight as a string and so did she (running in the same right lane) and Stanfield in the final. The only other car that got visibly loose on the top end was John Cerbone in the left lane during the first round.

Anderson is as good as it gets. $h!t happens. On to Phoenix.
