Anderson Opens Memphis Qualifying in Fourth (1 Viewer)

[coverattach=1]Five days after winning the race in Dallas, Summit Racing Pontiac racer Greg Anderson took to the track for the first day of qualifying at the O’Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals in Memphis, TN. Consistently among the best in the class, Anderson’s 6.582-second, 209.75 mph pass in the later afternoon session slotted him in the fourt h position midway through the qualifying procedure. With two attempts remaining on Saturday before the field is set, the Concord, NC resident believed his team had a chance to make further progress.

“Our Summit Racing Pontiac made it down the track in each session without any major issues,” said Anderson. “We just need to get it a little quicker in the first part of the track, because it’s actually running decent down track. If we can do that, I think we can close the gap on (provisional No. 1 qualifier Mike) Edwards.

“It wasn’t a bad day. We were third for the session in both runs, so we’re certainly not disappointed. I definitely like these conditions better for the set-up in our engines, and it is supposed to be the same tomorrow, so we0re looking forward to coming back and seeing what we can do to move closer to the top.”
