After reviewing the rule changes from IHRA, we are of the opinion that while pairity is critical to competition, we feel the racers have paid enough money to try to balance the series. We have addressed the proposed changes, and will abide by the published 2006 IHRA rules, with the following amendments.
These changes are pending final review and acceptance by the series Board.
HEAD AND NECK RESTRAINT: SFI 38.1 mandatory.
FRESH AIR SYSTEM: The use of a fresh air system for driver's safety is being reviewed and will most likely be implemented.
WEIGHT MINIMUMS:
Nitrous Oxide Entries: 2,425 lbs.
Supercharged Entries:
1972 and previous: 2,650 lbs.
Post 1972: 2700
Exception: 1963-1967 Corvette: 2700
CUBIC INCH LIMIT: Nitrous Oxide Entries * no maximum, Supercharged Entriesto remain at 526 cid.
BELLYPAN: Permitted. Must extend beyond leading edge of engine and accessories and incorporate a 1-inch lip on the front edge of all units.
REAR-END RATIO: No Change from 2006 (Supercharged Entries: 4.56 to 1 rear end ratio (final drive) maximum.)
SUPERCHARGER CASE: No change from 2006 All SFI certified casings are permitted.
ELECTRONICS / DATA ACQUISITION: No sensors may be used to monitor track position, track or tire temperature or ride height other than shock travel.
Sensors are prohibited from use on wheels or wheelie bars or on any other moving part other than the drive shaft.
STARTING LINE CONTROL DEVICES: Electronic Starting line RPM limiters(2-step) are PERMITTED on supercharged entries.
AMS Pro Modified Body-style Guidelines for 2008.
To help ensure the unique visual characteristics and heritage of Pro Modified, the use of post-1972 bodies will not be permitted in AMS Pro Modified competition beginning with the 2008 season.
The option of including turbos is being reviewed.
