Alan Reinhart Leaving NHRA Announcing

It's a sad day when we hear that Alan will no longer be announcing NHRA races. His interview announcing it showed us the real person he is and we need that person. Once again the NHRA has shown how shortsided their decisions can be and have been more recently. I wish Alan all the best and hope he finds work where he can continue in drag racing.

I guess we should have seen this coming with a bunch of races last season where Alan either wasn't there or was there but at the top end. Alan was a great transition from Bob Frey. Bob knew everything that had ever happened in drag racing while Alan was a car guy who could explain details in ways people like me could understand. I learned a lot from Alan and will miss him. Big loss for NHRA and fans.

Loved hearing Alan on the mic, he called so many classes and did them all so well. A big loss for the NHRA and more so, us fans.
Hopefully the call was purely his own.
Miss the days of Friday qualifying with a bunch of us here chatting and then Alan telling is to get back to work from a few thousand miles away.

Alan, nothing but the best going forward! As others have said, you will be missed. One of the tests of impact is that while others have played your role, they have some fans and some ‘not fans’ of those others. I don’t think there’s anyone out there who is glad to see you go. But 30 years is tough on the road and if you couldn’t come to terms that’s not a surprise these days. I have local TV stations I won’t watch because they went for cheaper anchors, meteorologists etc., basically replacing great professionals with cheaper wannabes.
In any case, look forward to seeing you somewhere and have enjoyed seeing you the last few decades.

Just thought of something else I"ll be at a loss of. Allan was and is my go-to answer guy if I had a question at "[email protected]" So, what now?
All the best Alan, you will go down as one of the all time greatest announcers in NHRA history and you should be very proud of all you accomplished. You are the voice of the NHRA since Bob retired and you can see how much you are appreciated by reading some of the replies on social media.

Dave and Steve were also legends. I think Jason Galvin that did some announcing last season was good and will probably get better if he stays. When you say screaming monkeys, Jason Logan comes to mind. He might be ok at events for drunken college kids, but that's about it. Not sure who they're trying to appeal to with him. Last year in Indy TEC, there were 2 of us in our 50's, one in 40s, one in 30s, and two teenagers. We all cringed every time he picked up the mic.
On to the topic at hand.... @Alan Reinhart , I truly wish you the best. You had a great run and will obviously be missed. If I can't bump into ya at the track, I hope to still see you here and on X. I remember when I was first introduced to you at Indy, I think 2002. We were getting attacked by a little kid with a toy claw in the winner's circle after his dad won TF.

Announcing is one of the most mentally taxing things you can do at a racetrack, not to mention all the research and extra curricular activites he does. To do it 20 + times a year, multiple day events for 30 something years, plus the travel... I completely understand why Alan would need to take a break.
I just clocked up 20 years in announcing last year and I'm winding back from doing 150++ events a year (pre-covid) to around 20-30 now.
A lot of people wondered who the voice of the NHRA was going to be after Steve & Dave, Bob Frey and Lewis Bloom stepped away - Alan now joins the very short list of passionate, informative and extremley professional announcers and hosts that the sport has been lucky to have over the years.
Congrats and good luck on whatever might be next.

We will miss him, that’s for sure. Wonder if they’ll try to get Lohnes? Doubt they’d pay enough to steal him from Fox.
I’d like to hear Hannah on the mic more. She’s extremely good.
