She was John's oldest daughter by a previous wife. This is the reason John was not at Pomona, and I heard that at the time. I assume he was also not at Charlotte.

Thinking of the Hight and Force families today. Heard about this on the Nhra.tv Southern Nationals broadcast today. Sounds like we know why John was not at the last two races. Nothing worse than losing a kid, her Mom is still alive too.
