A few Saturday pics (1 Viewer)

Nice weather; the night session was a bit of a letdown but at least Ron Capps had had a nice run. It was cool watching Hot Rod Fuller and Tony Shoe paired up and doing side-by-side burnouts at night; too bad they didn't get down the track; it still beats sitting at home though.

Kevin, thanx so much for the pics again!
Nicely done.
Love the overhead shot of the NAPA car, the shot of the bud car and an all white T/F launching, and the shot of the valvoline car + the fuel doctor with their bodies up.

The Bubble-up Firebird is owned by Ron Hodgson and tuned by Roland Leong, they will be making exhibition passes on Saturday and Sunday at the Winternationals with three other Nitro Funny Cars...

"Future Flash" Dodge Charger driven by Jon Capps.

"Pisano & Matsubara" Vega driven by Jeff Utterback.

"Northwest Hitter" Arrow driven by Bucky Austin.

"Bubble-Up" driven by Terry Capp.

Stop by and say hello!

Who is driving that Budweiser king car??? Or is it just a Display vehical??

That is the original Bud King Arrow; it's owned and was restored by Wayne and Carolyn Galligan. I doubt it will ever be raced; we could always hope that they would consider making it a cackle car though.

If Firebird is going to have Nostalgia Funny Car races this year, maybe someone could convince the powers that be to allow these cars to make exhibition passes at the CSK Nationals to promote the series. They've had Nitro Harley exhibition passes at the CSK Nationals before.

I wish they would have a couple of those nostalgia funny cars run at every event. The fans love them. Give them show money for each race & let them run a points series. It might even inspire some others to come out of the woodwork.

Is the Firebird stuff definitely going to happen or is it still under discussion? If it is a done deal, it would be pretty cool to see some exhibition runs at the CSK Nationals to promote the series. If they can do exhibition Nitro Harleys at this event in 2006, why not exhibition Nostalgia Funny Car in 2008?

Oh trust me, I know it would never happen. One can dream though. The 70's & 80's were a great drag racing era that has sadly been forgotten in some respects. This reminds me of my 16 year old Nephew..... He sees my pics of Scott Kalitta's burgandy Oldsmobile Cutlass from 1990 and thinks that's ancient technology! Then I try to explain the old Vega's, Monza's, Vette's, Buicks, Daytona's, TransAms..... and he just doesn't get it. You usually only see cars like that in Ocala or Glendora. To see them actually run... in today's world.... must be really special, and I think NHRA should embrace them.
