With the NHRA taking April off from regular Drag Racing and the next event (Rt 66) being in Chicago rain/tornado season, there is a real possibility that we might be 10 weeks away from a regular NHRA race.
Thinking IHRA (national events start end of June) blew a great opportunity to get rolling while NHRA was in "rest" mode?

Pretty sure all the racers running the 4-wide events feel they are participating in "real drag races".

I'm not in love with 4 wide but I don't hate it, either. I'd enjoy attending such a race just once to see and feel what it's like. I guess the only nit-picking issue I have is that it adds about an hour of filler to FS1's 3-hour coverage and it's a big more difficult to determine who's in and who's out for the next round.

So is it real drag racing? Of course it is.

I don't like posting my opinion. But I'll make an exception. "I Hate It" !!! I like the idea. But it does not play out very well. Hardly all four cars make it down. I'm sure it sounds great live. Too much going on in a very short amount of time. I'll put it on cause I Love Drag Racing. But I won't be getting too excited.

Backyard for me too, not my first choice honestly I don't mind it. Been to plenty of two lane tracks where cars can't get down one of the two lanes for almost entire weekends too.

the main issue i would be concerned about, watching 4wide racing live, would be the eardrum busting sound, 4 nitro cars, in harmony, passing by. I'm normally ok with the db level, a couple cars make, but 4 is gonna definitely require some plugs 🔊

Fill ins will be constamt replays on nitro cars, qualfying, last event, last years event etc etc. Fs1 sure loves the remember whens... maybe we can get to see all of pro stock this time lol

Saw it in person once and enjoyed the sound and spectacle.. Not great to watch on TV though IMO., watching4 lanes in a three second run is way too much for me to to focus on in any detail. Without replays I would not be able to tell you what happened on the track with any detail. Not thrilled that they are going to run a countdown race in this format though.

Watching on TV is definitely a challenge. The overhead view is the best. If I lived close I'd probably go see it in person once. I'm not a fan but I guess NHRA thinks enough folks are. Seems to go over well for gate attendance so I doubt it will go away any time soon.

Every drag racing fan needs to attend at least one 4-wide race. There’s nothing to compare to four fuel cars going WOT all at once.
Talk about sensory overload.
All that being said, my wife and I went to the Vegas 4-wide a couple of years ago. Once was enough for us.
As others have said, it is difficult to keep up with all four cars during a run.
But I would love to experience being on the starting line at least once.
