It's just how the driver fills out the tech card. They don't always use the correct terminology/abbreviations.

I found that interesting as well.

A lot of teams started doing that back when the time between rounds was shortened from 90 to 75 minutes to save time. I feel that trend didn’t last more than a season or two.

Along those lines are teams guaranteed 75 minutes ? It seems sometimes its shorter due to weather, live TV,etc.

Sometimes it’s shortened to 65 minutes, the top teams get it done with plenty of time to spare

When we ran Nitro Funny Car back in the early 2000's we almost always had 4 short blocks ready on Sunday for eliminations. We were not a "Big Funded" team, but we did not skimp on parts. There are times it is faster to change motors than repair between rounds, depending on damage. Then after the race you could repair the others. During our years running Nitro and TA/FC we never missed a round do to time limits.

They had the problem last year of the threads for the mains being pulled out of the block after servicing the engine between rounds. That has been a problem for everyone the last couple of years.

Clay's comment for doing it was an industry wide problem with main studs pulling out. So by swapping the short block it makes it easier to repair on the bench rather than in the chassis. Question I have is it all or just his engine block of choice.
