2026 TESTINGS (16 Viewers)

No, they don't own the airspace.
I'm not sure how that works. At Pomona a year or so ago, a guy was flying his drone from the stands and someone in authority saw the drone and had the announcer tell the drone operator over the PA to take it down. He had to repeat the warning several times before the drone was finally retrieved. Not sure how that would have panned out if the guy refused to take down his drone, but they were going to stop racing until it happened. Why would this be a big deal? Maybe fear of the drone operator flying the drone too close to the action during a run and potentially colliding the drone with a race car.

I’m going to assume they did it more for the airport across the street and interfering with planes.

100% to close to that airport.

I also won't be flying it over any events with spectators.

The incrementals from said run, 2.93 at 300 1/8th mile

I am glad to read that some teams are "running it out the back door" instead of just the incredibly boring and unsatisfying 60' squirts.

Is this test session open to the public?
I noticed that too…I wonder if it’s due to the longer off season and prep time in the shop.

...... Clay has been 2.047 - 330' and 2.897' - 660 when he ran 3.628 .....
grubnic tuned i believe. can't recall what rules have been altered since then?
what a run by langdon. is that 342 the 3rd fastest ever?, said no one not too long ago.

Well Jon, you have to realize these teams are testing, they are only there to satisfy themselves by learning and gathering data before the race season begins. If you were there trying to improve your 60' time, and you did that, I promise you wouldn't be bored by it.

Hi Nunzio: Yes, I know why they usually just do those 60" squirts, as from what I have read over the years that is all the Crew Chiefs usually need to test the combination and gather data, just like you wrote. My comment was more kidding around - as us keyboard crew chiefs/fans like it a lot better when they do make a full pass as it gives us something to see and talk about in the long down time between seasons.

I'm really looking forward to the Gatornationals and the Bakersfield March Meet out here in CA in a few weeks. I sure hope the MM doesn't get hit by all the rain we have been having out here.
