MECHANICSVILLE, Md. (May 30, 2026) – – With two consecutive race wins entering the weekend, the season is going just about as well as it can for Shawn Langdon. The NHRA Top Fuel points leader won the No. 1 Qualifier and the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge at the inaugural NHRA Potomac Nationals. The first-time NHRA National Event is set for tomorrow; the race broadcast is scheduled for 3 p.m. eastern time on FOX.

Langdon set the Top Fuel track records for elapsed time and speed in the second qualifying session Friday afternoon when he reached the finish line in 3.758 seconds at 336.23 mph. It held until the final session Saturday afternoon when the Kalitta Air Careers driver ran a quicker elapsed time to reset his own track record with a 3.744-second effort at 334.90 mph. It was Langdon’s third No. 1 qualifier of the season, the 25th of his career and the fourth-straight Top Fuel No. 1 qualifier for Kalitta Motorsports.

Saturday’s qualifying sessions were also the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty NHRA challenge – a rematch of the semifinals and final at the last race. Langdon defeated Josh Hart in the semifinal rematch with a 3.760-second run at 335.23 mph and advanced to the final round against Leah Pruett. Langdon was off the starting line first and never trailed winning a great drag race by .0395 seconds. It was Langdon’s second-straight Mission Foods Challenge win and his second of the season.

“We’re just keeping our heads down and working hard,” Langdon said. We’re trying to keep doing the same thing, and the car’s repeating. Before that run, Brian (Crew Chief Brian Husen) said, ‘I’m going to try to better it a little bit; we’ll kind of see what the track gives us. Hopefully, we can get the thing go 74 (3.740 seconds),’ and that’s what it did. The Kalitta Air Careers guys have a great handle on this race car. It’s really neat to race here in Maryland for the first time. The fans are awesome; we had a great turnout the other night at the Fan Fest, and it’s great coming here. Hopefully, we can keep this win streak going.”

With 15 Top Fuel cars in Maryland, Langdon will begin the quest for his third-straight race win with a first-round bye on Sunday. Doug Kalitta is the No. 2 qualifier and will race No. 15 qualifier, Lex Joon. In Funny Car, J.R. Todd is the No. 8 qualifier and will race No. 9 qualifier Blake Alexander in Sunday’s opening round.
