YPSILANTI, Mich. — The Race to End Hunger campaign donated some 3.75 million meals* to Feeding America® and the Feeding America network of food banks in the last four years, but food insecurity remains a major problem in the United States.

The Race to End Hunger returns in September to continue the effort.Kalitta Motorsports, long-time partner DHL Express and Kalitta Air are partnering again to accelerate the fight against food insecurity by helping working families, children and senior citizens facing hunger through the now familiar six-race program: the Race to End Hunger. Another stellar list of corporate partners joins the effort this year: Applied Innovation, Brown & Miller Racing Solutions, Champion, Dayco, Fifth Third Bank, Mac Tools, New Image Building Services, PJH/Superior.

The United States Department of Agriculture defines food insecurity as “a lack of consistent access to enough food for every person in the household to live an active, healthy life.” In the United States, nearly 48 million people, including more than 14 million children, do not have enough food to eat. Families facing hunger are forced to decide between buying food and paying for housing, transportation or medical bills. Partnering with Feeding America, the largest hunger-relief organization in the United States, DHL, Kalitta Motorsports, Kalitta Air and eight additional corporate partners are working to make sure every person facing hunger has access to the food they need.

During the next six NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series events, every time Team Kalitta drivers Doug Kalitta, J.R. Todd or Shawn Langdon turn on a race day win light, donations from Kalitta Motorsports, DHL, Kalitta Air and the eight partners will generate 40,000 meals.

The program kicks off at next week’s Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis Sept. 4-7 and will continue at the next five races: the Dodge NHRA Great Lakes Nationals Presented by MOPAR Sept. 18-20 in Martin, Mich., the NHRA Nationals at The Rock Sept. 25-27 in Rockingham, N.C., the Napa Auto Parts NHRA Midwest Nationals Oct. 2-4 in Madison, Ill., the Texas NHRA FallNationals Oct. 16-18 in Ennis, Texas and the NHRA Nevada Nationals Oct. 30-Nov. 1 in Las Vegas.

By scanning the QR code at the six racetracks, through social media posts or by clicking here, fans can make a personal donation. Every online donation enters the donor into a drawing for a VIP experience for two at the 2027 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series race of the winner’s choice.

Feeding America established Hunger Action Month in 2008 to create a nationwide push to address the hunger crisis across the United States.

Each September, the Feeding America network and its partners mobilize together to support people facing hunger get the food and groceries they need.“No child, senior, parent or family should have to face the uncertainty of not knowing where their next meal will come from,” said Nemer Abohasen, General Manager, DHL Express. “Yet for millions of people across the country, that uncertainty is a daily reality. That’s why we are proud to rally our employees and join our long-time partners Kalitta Motorsports, Kalitta Air and Feeding America to help make a difference. Together, we can support families in need and continue the race to end hunger in our communities.”

“The number of people in our country who don’t have enough food to eat is staggering, and the number of children in that predicament is disturbing” Kalitta Air Chief Operating Officer Heath Nicholl said. “We are happy to join our friends at DHL and our race team in support of this incredibly important effort, and we hope, through this mutual effort, we can help Feeding America make progress in the battle against food insecurity.”

“Kalitta Motorsports is honored to help fight this heartbreaking problem people in our country face every day,” Team Kalitta driver Doug Kalitta said. “Feeding America, and a lot of organizations like them, work real hard to feed the people in our country that need our help. It’s tough for hungry kids to learn in school – these families are doing what they can, but the work Feeding America does, with DHL’s help, is really important – we have to make it happen. We really hope NHRA fans will help – even if it’s just a few dollars. They just scan the QR codes they’ll be seeing on the big screens at the racetrack and on TV so we can all help Feeding America fight hunger. Thanks to all the Team Kalitta partners that joined the fight this year.”

Every dollar raised through the “Race to End Hunger” will help provide at least 10 meals. This partnership to support hunger relief nationwide is part of DHL’s sole goal of connecting people and improving lives, which guides all the company’s efforts and operations, underscoring its values and mission to ultimately better society.

Through the “Race to End Hunger,” Kalitta Motorsports will actively engage the NHRA community through social media posts, race reports and at-track promotions.
