FROM ANTRON BROWN:
Driver of the Matco Tools Eagle Experience Top Fuel Dragster
“The coolest part is the vibe and energy are high. We did the employee appreciation luncheon and meet-and-greet at the Summit Racing Car Show, where we signed autographs with the other Summit drivers. Then we were at Matco Tools’ corporate headquarters for their employee appreciation luncheon. We left there and went to the fan fest and car show for our Matco distributors at Master Pizza.
“We’re just going to roll that into the race this weekend. Coming off a win in Bristol, we’re feeling really good, but we’ve got to rinse and repeat. We’ve got to go out there, qualify well, so we can try to get the job done. This is the hometown of my crew chief and his family, Brian Corradi, so we’ve got to show up. If we can just get that win done, we’re going to celebrate in the winner’s circle with some Corradi Scoops, their famous ice cream shop that’s around here in Ohio. I’m looking forward to it. We’re going to put those Matco Tools to work.”
TAKE NOTE:
• Norwalk is considered a home race for Sampey at the Michalek Brothers Racing team
• Sampey enters the event second in the Central Region Standings and ninth in the National Standings
• In 2022, Sampey claimed her first Pro Stock Motorcycle win at Summit Racing Motorsports Park
Last Event (NHRA Potomac Nationals):
Qualified eighth; First round exit (defeated by Gary Pritchett in E1)

FROM ANGELLE SAMPEY:
Driver of the Hangsterfer’s FVP Mission Foods A/Fuel Dragster
“I am excited to be back in the car this weekend in Norwalk, Ohio, because I do think we are on a roll this year. We haven’t been so successful in eliminations, but we were doing really well in qualifying, and I know the two of those are going to come together. We made it to the final round once, but the qualifying and the elimination rounds will come together, and I have a feeling it might be this weekend. I’m going to go off of the momentum that the AB Motorsports and Matco team has coming off of a win. I think we can double up, so I’m excited to give that a good try. Hoping that the weather stays clear for us. I think it’s going to be great conditions as far as temperature, so it’ll be fun to be in the race car for a change – wearing a fire suit in the heat can sometimes be really distracting, but I think that’s not going to be an issue this weekend.
“Hopefully, we’ll get another ice cream cone [trophy] because my crew chief, Kyle Michalek, is the one who makes those at Michalek Machining, so I have one at home, but I wouldn’t mind having another one that goes with my four-wheel racing now instead of the two. One of the main reasons why I’m looking forward to this weekend is that both of my daughters, Ava and Maya, are here with me this weekend. They don’t get to come out to the races too often, but they are here to cheer me on this weekend, and I’m even gonna have Ava work and do some social media. So it’s gonna be a great weekend.”
