With Two Attempts Remaining, KJ Sits Seventh in Indy

CLERMONT, Ind. -- As the biggest race on the POWERade Drag Racing circuit, the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals has the unique distinction of having five qualifying sessions spread over the space of three days. Through the first three sessions at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, Kurt Johnson and the ACDelco Cobalt Racing Team continued to display the consistent performance that had carried them to the win in Memphis two weeks ago. Their best effort of 6.696-seconds at 205.57 mph, which came in Saturday's early session, has them slotted in the seventh position heading into Sunday's final two attempts.

"We made two nice runs today, but we're still a little miffed that we didn't pick up more on tonight's run. There was nothing obvious in our initial review of the data, so we'll have to dig deeper into our ACDelco Cobalt to see what's going on. It's not bad, but we're not happy unless we're on top.

"Everyone is saying the right lane is a little slow, and it could be, so lane choice will be important for Monday. We're not going to concern ourselves with that. For now, we'll get to work on our car, see what we can find to pick up our performance tomorrow and put ourselves in a better spot for final eliminations."
