(10-20-11) Kernersville, NC – Doug Winters and his Lucas Oil ’57 Chevy Pro Mod will highlight the schedule Saturday Oct 22 at Rockingham Dragway’s Super Chevy Show. This is the return of the iconic Super Chevy Show to Rockingham in over 10 years. The last time it was at Rockingham, Doug and his team was there. “We use to love to come to Rockingham for the Super Chevy Show. With Rockingham Dragway only an hour from our shop, we called it our home track. As I recall, we did pretty good here over the years. So Rockingham and Super Chevy Shows have always been good to us,” stated Doug.
This year will be special because Doug will compete against Ricky Smith in his 2012 International Distribution Group Chevrolet Camaro. “It’s always cool when you can race the legends in the sport like Ricky. We can just add him to the list of other greats like Jim Oddy, Fred Hahn, Bill Kuhlmann, Scotty Cannon and others that we have ran over the years. Running Ricky will also be good for the fans to see a Nitrous Pro Mod verses our Blown Pro Mod. This way fans get to see two different styles of Pro Mod racing.” Not only will the fans get to see a Blower Pro Mod verses a Nitrous Pro Mod, but they will also see nostalgia verse modern. The Winters Racing ’57 Chevy Pro Mod has always been recognized as a ’57 that truly looks like a real ’57 Chevy. And with Ricky’s new 2012 Camaro, it will defiantly be old verses new.
Doug and the Winters Racing Team are coming off a great showing at the Super Chevy Show held in Bristol Tenn last month. There, Doug was able to win the Pro Mod clash against other Super Chevy Show regulars of the past like Randy Adler, Jerry Hunt and “Sandman” Williams. “Bristol was great, it really helped our program. We have been through a lot of changes this year and I think we are now really getting a hold of our latest setup. We hope to show that this coming Saturday.”
As with all Super Chevy Shows, there is a lot more then just drag racing. The event will hold a Swap Meet, Chevy Car Corral, Show-N-Shine Chevy car and truck show and a variety of manufacturers’ displays both Saturday and Sunday.
